When dyeing dark colors, is ECDP textured DTY yarn prone to color flakes?

ECDP textured DTY yarn has better dyeing uniformity than ordinary polyester when dyeing dark colors, and the color flake phenomenon is relatively rare, but there are still certain risks. The occurrence of color flake problems mainly depends on multiple factors such as the characteristics of the fiber itself, dyeing process control, dye selection, and equipment operation status.

ECDP fiber performs well when dyeing dark colors, mainly due to its special chemical structure and physical properties. ECDP fiber contains sulfonic acid groups and has a high affinity for cationic dyes, which allows the dye to be quickly and evenly adsorbed on the fiber, thereby significantly reducing the risk of uneven dyeing. In contrast, ordinary polyester needs to be dyed with disperse dyes under high temperature and high pressure conditions, while ECDP fiber can be dyed under normal pressure conditions of 85~100℃, which not only reduces energy consumption, but also reduces fiber structure changes and dye migration problems caused by high temperature.

Secondly, ECDP fiber has a high moisture regain of about 3~4%, which is much higher than the 0.4% of ordinary polyester. This higher hygroscopicity makes it easier for the dye to penetrate into the fiber, reducing the possibility of surface floating color and color flakes. In addition, the fluffy structure of ECDP textured DTY yarn also helps the uniform penetration of dye liquor. DTY has the characteristics of curling and fluffy, which allows the dye liquor to be more evenly distributed inside the yarn, further reducing the risk of color difference between the inner and outer layers.

Although ECDP textured DTY yarn is relatively stable when dyeing dark colors, color flower problems may still occur if the process is not properly controlled. In order to ensure dyeing uniformity, key factors such as fiber batch, dyeing process, dye selection and pretreatment still need to be strictly controlled. By optimizing process parameters (such as controlling the heating rate, using leveling agents, and ensuring dye liquor circulation), the risk of color flower can be further reduced and high-quality dark dyeing effects can be obtained.
