Cationic Dyeable (CDP) Yarn

Introduction

Cationic Dyeable Polyester (CDP) Yarn is a chemically modified polyester fiber that allows for brilliant, deep colors and unique multi-tone effects at lower temperatures. Standard polyester requires high-pressure dyeing at 130∘C, but GC FIBER’s CDP yarn is engineered with sulfonic acid groups in the polymer chain, enabling it to bond with cationic dyes at atmospheric pressure (100∘C). This modification not only saves energy but also allows for the creation of "Cross-Dye" effects.

When CDP yarn is woven together with standard polyester, a single dye bath containing two types of dye will color the CDP fibers one shade and the standard fibers another (or leave them white), resulting in sophisticated heathered or striped patterns without the cost of yarn-dyeing. Our CDP range is prized in the fashion and upholstery industries for achieving high color saturation and excellent light-fastness.

Two-Tone Fashion Apparel

Used in knits and woven fabrics to create heathered or melange effects in a single piece-dyeing process, significantly reducing lead times for fast fashion.

Ideal for sofas and curtains where deep, rich jewel tones are required that would be difficult to achieve with standard PET.

Often blended with Spandex and Nylon for soft-touch garments that require delicate dyeing conditions.
