Application
POY is an upstream intermediate product. Its end applications are realized through the fabrics and yarns it enables downstream:
- DTY Production (Primary Use) — Over 80 % of global POY is converted into Draw Textured Yarn on false-twist texturing machines. The DTY produced serves sportswear, hosiery, home textiles, and woven apparel markets.
- FDY / FOY Production — A portion of POY is further drawn on separate draw-winding machines to produce fully oriented flat filament yarn for weaving and warp knitting.
- Specialty Yarn Intermediates — POY is used as the core feedstock for air-covered elastic yarns, core-spun composites, and some air-textured yarn processes that require a soft, drawable filament.
- Twisted Yarn Supply Chain — Some yarn twisters and throwsters purchase POY directly to produce twisted filament products with controlled elongation for niche technical applications.
- Research & Development — Textile R&D teams use POY to develop experimental yarn constructions and validate new polymer formulations before committing to full FOY or DTY production runs.
Advantage
- Optimized for Texturing Machine Performance — Our POY is wound with precise oil content and surface finish matched to major texturing machine brands (Barmag, SSM, Murata), minimizing disc wear and yarn breaks at high operating speeds.
- Tight Birefringence Tolerance — Lot-to-lot birefringence CV ≤ 0.002 ensures consistent draw ratio requirements on your texturing machines, reducing waste and re-setting downtime.
- Large Package Efficiency — 10–12 kg packages extend machine running time between doffs, directly improving texturing machine OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Cationic-Dyeable Grade — CDP and ECDP POY allows downstream DTY producers to offer bi-color and heather-effect fabrics without additional yarn blending steps.
- Sustainable rPET Option — GRS-certified recycled PET POY with equivalent drawability to virgin PET, enabling DTY texturers to supply brands with verified recycled content.
- Consistent Elongation Across Package — Radial elongation uniformity (inner vs. outer layers) ≤ 3 % CV, critical for even DTY crimp contraction from first meter to last.
