Introduction

Biodegradable nylon yarn needs a careful description, because standard nylon 6 and nylon 66 do not biodegrade in any meaningful time. The practical route today is nylon with a biodegradation-enhancing additive, which is designed to speed up breakdown after disposal in specific conditions, usually landfill or anaerobic environments, while the yarn behaves like normal nylon during its useful life.

It is also important to separate this from bio-based nylon such as PA56, PA610 or PA11. Those use renewable raw materials but are not necessarily biodegradable. We help buyers define whether they want lower fossil content, recycled content or better end-of-life, because each needs a different material.

We develop functional yarns to order. Typical customers are hosiery and underwear makers, activewear and knitwear brands, and mills working on outdoor or technical textiles where nylon performance is required.

Application

Nylon is chosen for strength, stretch and soft hand, and a biodegradable grade adds an end-of-life option. Typical uses are:

  • Hosiery and underwear: fine counts for soft, elastic knitted goods.

Because the yarn behaves like normal nylon in use, existing knitting and weaving settings usually need only small changes.

Payment and Shipping

Payment terms

  • T/T (bank transfer) is our standard method; L/C at sight is accepted for qualified orders.

  • Deposit and balance terms are written into the quotation, so there are no surprises at shipment.

  • Sample orders can be settled by bank transfer or other methods we agree on with you.

Shipping and lead time

  • Goods ship from our factory base in Haian, Nantong, Jiangsu, with Shanghai seaport as the usual port of loading.

  • Sea freight for production quantities, express (DHL, FedEx, UPS) or air freight for samples and urgent lots.

  • Trade terms such as EXW, FOB Shanghai and CIF can be quoted according to your forwarder setup.

  • Biodegradable nylon is developed and produced by order. Lead time depends on the nylon type, count and quantity, and is stated in the quotation.

  • Export packing is done in cartons on pallets, with labels showing denier, lot number and net weight.

  • Q: Is nylon biodegradable?

  • A: Standard nylon is not, in any practical time. Biodegradable nylon yarn uses an additive designed to speed up breakdown in specific conditions after disposal.

  • Q: How does biodegradable nylon work?

  • A: The additive helps microorganisms attack the polymer after disposal, especially in landfill or anaerobic conditions. It does not change the yarn during normal use and washing.

  • Q: Will it degrade in the sea or in my garden?

  • A: We cannot promise that. Degradation depends on conditions, and tests such as ASTM D5511 cover specific anaerobic conditions. Please do not use broad claims without test data.

  • Q: What is the difference between bio-based and biodegradable nylon?

  • A: Bio-based nylon is made from renewable raw material. Biodegradable nylon is designed to break down after disposal. A yarn can be one, both or neither.

  • Q: Does it perform like normal nylon?

  • A: In use it is intended to match standard nylon in strength, elasticity and hand. We recommend a trial on your machine and a wash test before bulk production.

  • Q: Can it be dyed with normal nylon dyes?

  • A: Yes, acid dyes are normally used. Please run a trial, and tell us the process so we can advise. Dope-dyed yarn is another option.

  • Q: What counts are available?

  • A: Common nylon counts include 20D/12F, 40D/24F, 70D/24F, 100D/48F and 140D/48F. Other counts can be made to order.
