Overview

GC FIBER fusible yarn is purpose-built for garment finishing, where it is knitted, woven, or laid into interlining and hemming tape and then activated with an iron or fusing press to bond two fabric layers permanently. Buyers who convert interlining rolls or produce fusible hemming tape choose this yarn because the bond point stays soft enough to drape with the garment instead of creating a stiff, board-like patch. We supply it pre-tested against common fusing press cycles so converters spend less time adjusting press temperature and dwell time during trial runs.

  • A: Fusible web is a standalone adhesive film sheet, while fusible yarn is a filament woven or knitted directly into the interlining or tape structure, so the bonding agent is built into the fabric rather than applied as a separate layer.
  • Q: How many wash cycles can a fused seam or interlining survive?
  • A: Under recommended fusing settings, most of our melt points hold through 20 or more home wash cycles; industrial laundering tolerance depends on the specific melt point and should be confirmed against your care label claims.
  • Q: What fusing press temperature should we start with?
  • A: We provide a data sheet per melt point with a recommended temperature and dwell time range; most converters run a small trial batch at the lower end of that range and adjust up if peel strength is not sufficient.
  • Q: Can fusible yarn fully replace a fusible interlining sheet?
  • A: For structured areas like waistbands or collars, a woven or knitted interlining with fusible yarn built in usually performs better than a plain adhesive sheet, since the base fabric also adds shape retention, not just the bond.
