Application
Recycled polyester filament yarn is used wherever a smooth, strong continuous filament is needed and the end brand wants a recycled-content claim.
- Knitted apparel: sportswear, activewear, T-shirts, linings and seamless garments.
- Woven fabrics: outerwear, jacket shells, taffeta, pongee and lightweight functional fabrics.
- Bags and luggage: backpack, tote and luggage fabrics made from heavier deniers.
- Home textiles: curtains, bedding, sofa and upholstery fabrics, carpets and rugs.
- Narrow fabrics: webbing, ribbons, labels, drawcords and trims.
- Technical uses: base yarn for coated fabrics, automotive interior textiles and filter fabrics.
As a rule of thumb, choose FDY for smooth woven and warp-knit fabrics, DTY where stretch and a softer hand are needed, and POY if you texture the yarn yourself.
Advantages
- Lower raw-material impact: recycled PET replaces part or all of the virgin petroleum-based feedstock.
- Comparable processing: runs on standard knitting, warping and weaving equipment without special settings in most programs.
- Dope-dyed options: color is added in the melt, which can cut dyeing water, energy and steps in the fabric mill.
- Traceable supply: lot records and recycled-content documents support brand audits and buyer compliance.
- Factory-direct customization: denier, luster, filament count and packing adjusted to your fabric structure.
- Sample support: test cones are available before you commit to a production quantity.
Recycled vs Virgin Polyester Filament
| Factor | Recycled Polyester Filament | Virgin Polyester Filament |
| Raw Material | Recycled PET flake or chip | Virgin PTA and MEG |
| Strength | Suitable for most apparel and home textile uses | Slightly higher and more uniform in demanding grades |
| Whiteness | Good; bright white shades may need extra control | Consistently high |
| Sustainability Claim | Recycled-content claim, supported by certificates | None |
| Price | Usually a modest premium, depending on market and grade | Baseline |
