Introduction

Polyester fully drawn yarn, usually shortened to FDY, is polyester filament that completes its drawing during spinning. Molten polymer is extruded, cooled, drawn between heated godet rolls to align the molecules, and wound at high speed. The result is a stable yarn with fixed strength and elongation that needs no further drawing.

That difference matters when you compare yarn types. POY is only partly drawn and is meant for texturing. DTY is drawn and textured for bulk and stretch. Fully drawn yarn stays smooth and flat, which gives woven and warp-knit fabrics a clean surface, good drape and a sharp luster.

Application

Because the yarn is fully drawn, it goes straight to the loom, warping machine or warp-knitting machine. Typical uses are:

  • Woven fabrics: linings, shirting, satin, taffeta and dress cloth.

  • Home textiles: curtains, sheets, cushion covers and upholstery.

  • Warp knits: tricot, mesh, lace and sports fabrics.

  • Narrow fabrics: ribbons, labels, tapes and webbing.

  • Bags and outdoor cloth: heavier counts for strength and abrasion resistance.

Weavers often pair it with textured yarn, using FDY for the face and DTY for body.

Payment terms

  • T/T (bank transfer) is our standard method; L/C at sight is accepted for qualified orders.

  • Deposit and balance terms are written into the quotation, so there are no surprises at shipment.

  • Sample orders can be settled by bank transfer or other methods we agree on with you.

Shipping and lead time

  • Goods ship from our factory base in Haian, Nantong, Jiangsu, with Shanghai seaport as the usual port of loading.

  • Sea freight for production quantities, express (DHL, FedEx, UPS) or air freight for samples and urgent lots.

  • Trade terms such as EXW, FOB Shanghai and CIF can be quoted according to your forwarder setup.

  • Standard counts and colors are quoted with stock status, and custom specifications are made by order. Lead time is stated in the quotation.

  • Export packing is done in cartons on pallets, with labels showing denier, lot number and net weight.

  • Q: Which luster is best?

  • A: Bright for satin and ribbons, semi-dull for most apparel and linings, and full-dull for a matt look.

  • Q: Which denier is typical for weaving?

  • A: 50D to 150D for linings and lighter cloth, and 300D for heavier home and bag fabrics. Send your fabric details and we will suggest a count.

  • Q: Can I get dope-dyed or recycled fully drawn yarn?

  • A: Both can be discussed on request. Please share shade, certification needs and quantity so we can quote correctly.
