Introduction

Polyester FDY (fully drawn yarn) is spun and drawn in a single process, so the yarn is ready for weaving or knitting straight off the package. It has a smooth, flat surface, a clean luster and strong, even filaments, which is why it is the standard filament for woven fabrics.

Compared with DTY, FDY is less bulky and has little stretch, but it gives sharper fabric surface, better drape and higher strength for its weight. Luster can be bright or semi-dull, and cross-sections can be round or shaped, depending on how much shine and hand you want.

It suits weaving mills, warp knitters, curtain and bedding makers, ribbon and label producers and trading companies. GC FIBER supplies standard counts and custom yarn, with OEM options for denier, filament count, luster and color.

Application

Smooth, strong filament makes polyester FDY the first choice for woven and warp knit structures. It is used for:

  • Woven apparel fabrics: linings, shirting, dress fabrics and satin-type cloth.

  • Home textiles: curtains, bed sheets, cushion covers and upholstery.

  • Warp knits and mesh: lace, tulle, sports mesh and tricot.

  • Ribbons, labels and tapes: woven narrow fabrics that need clean surface and color.

  • Bags, luggage and outdoor fabrics: heavier counts for strength and abrasion resistance.

  • Blended fabrics: paired with DTY, cotton or nylon for contrast of hand and luster.

For fabrics that need both a smooth face and a soft back, FDY is often combined with DTY in the same construction.

Round filament gives a standard hand, while trilobal or flat sections raise shine and change how fabrics feel and reflect light.

Payment and Shipping

Payment terms

  • T/T (bank transfer) is our standard method; L/C at sight is accepted for qualified orders.

  • Deposit and balance terms are written into the quotation, so there are no surprises at shipment.

  • Sample orders can be settled by bank transfer or other methods we agree on with you.

Shipping and lead time

  • Goods ship from our factory base in Haian, Nantong, Jiangsu, with Shanghai seaport as the usual port of loading.

  • Sea freight for production quantities, express (DHL, FedEx, UPS) or air freight for samples and urgent lots.

  • Trade terms such as EXW, FOB Shanghai and CIF can be quoted according to your forwarder setup.

  • Standard FDY counts and colors are quoted with stock status, and custom specifications are made by order. Lead time is stated in the quotation.

  • Export packing is done in cartons on pallets, with labels showing denier, lot number and net weight.

  • A: Bright for high shine such as satin and ribbons, semi-dull for most apparel and linings, and full-dull when you want a matt look.

  • Q: Do you supply dope-dyed polyester FDY?

  • A: Yes. Dope-dyed yarn has color added at the spinning stage, giving stable color and saving dyeing steps. Send your shade and we will confirm.

  • Q: Can I get recycled polyester FDY?

  • Q: Can polyester FDY be blended with DTY or HDPE yarn?

  • A: Yes. FDY is often used with DTY, and our HDPE FDY yarn can be woven together with polyester to add cool touch. Share your fabric design and we will suggest a combination.
