Introduction

Polyester DTY (draw textured yarn) is made from polyester POY that is drawn and false-twist textured in one operation. The texturing sets crimp into the filaments, which gives the yarn bulk, softness and a degree of stretch that flat filament does not have.

In the hand, DTY feels softer and fuller than FDY, with a more cotton-like surface once knitted. Its performance depends strongly on the POY it starts from, so we control the raw material and inspect after each process. Our wider polyester filament range also includes easy-dye cationic and recycled options.

Application

DTY is the main yarn for stretch, softness and bulk in polyester fabrics. It is used in:

  • Knit apparel: T-shirts, dresses, underwear, leggings and fleece-type knits.

  • Sportswear and activewear: stretch knits that stay stable during movement.

  • Socks and hosiery: comfortable, durable knitted goods.

  • Home textiles: curtains, upholstery, bedding and blankets.

  • Woven fabrics: used as weft to add bulk and a soft hand.

  • Bags and accessories: knitted and woven trim and support fabrics.

Because the texturing adds crimp, DTY fabrics cover better and drape softly, so lighter yarn can often achieve the same coverage as a flat yarn.

Quality of the POY decides much of the final DTY result, so we suggest asking for the denier tolerance, tenacity and elongation sheet for each lot.

Payment terms

  • T/T (bank transfer) is our standard method; L/C at sight is accepted for qualified orders.

  • Deposit and balance terms are written into the quotation, so there are no surprises at shipment.

  • Sample orders can be settled by bank transfer or other methods we agree on with you.

Shipping and lead time

  • Goods ship from our factory base in Haian, Nantong, Jiangsu, with Shanghai seaport as the usual port of loading.

  • Sea freight for production quantities, express (DHL, FedEx, UPS) or air freight for samples and urgent lots.

  • Trade terms such as EXW, FOB Shanghai and CIF can be quoted according to your forwarder setup.

  • Standard counts can ship faster than made-to-order specifications. We confirm stock and production time in the quotation.

  • Export packing is done in cartons on pallets, with labels showing denier, lot number and net weight.

  • A: DTY means draw textured yarn. It is polyester POY that has been drawn and textured, which adds crimp, bulk and stretch.

  • Q: What is the difference between polyester DTY and FDY?

  • A: DTY is textured and soft with stretch, so it is used mostly for knits. FDY is smooth and flat with a lustrous surface, used mostly for woven fabrics and linings.

  • Q: What do NIM, SIM and HIM mean?

  • A: They describe the intermingle (network) level of the yarn. NIM is non-intermingle, SIM is semi-intermingle, and HIM is high-intermingle. Higher levels hold filaments together better for weaving or high-speed knitting.

  • Q: What deniers are available?

  • A: Common counts include 75D/36F, 75D/72F, 100D/36F, 150D/48F, 150D/96F, 200D/96F and 300D/96F. Other counts can be made to order. Please share your fabric target.

  • Q: Can I buy dope-dyed or raw-white polyester DTY?

  • A: Both are possible. Raw white suits piece dyeing, while dope-dyed yarn has color built in. Send us your shade standard and we will confirm.

  • Q: Do you offer recycled polyester DTY?

  • A: Yes, recycled polyester and easy-dye cationic options are part of our polyester filament range. Share your certification needs and quantity so we can quote correctly.

  • Q: How do I check polyester DTY quality?
